And just like snow in the South, it was 50 degrees and all gone by the end of Sunday. Just the way I like it.
I discovered my sewing machine has tons of overlock stitches which is great since I don't have a serger.
I followed this tutorial (with great results I might add) for shirring with elastic thread in a drop in bobbin. Don't be scared- give it a try!
My plan is to finish it up today and I'll post a little more of a pattern review when I share the finished dress.
What are you working on today?

Jennifer

The snow looks so pretty. I love the magical look even though it was fleeting.
Thanks for the link to the tutorial. My first (and last) shirring experience was a disaster. The tutorial I was following didn't have nearly as much detail as this one! I may just try it again one day...
yay! i love the washi pattern. are you using a knit fabric? if so, i'd love to hear about any adjustments you are using with the washi pattern-- i've been wanting to try it with a knit but am not sure if I need to make changes since the pattern is written for wovens.
Looking forward to seeing your shirred washi :o) I'm sewing a commission bear. Well, when I'm not at work or playing on here anyway ;o)
You are becoming quite the garment sewist.
Excited to see the finished article!
It's school holidays here so I am working on keeping my sanity xxx
What a beautiful picture of the snow! The Washi Dress is a really pretty pattern. Can't wait to see how yours turns out :)
The Washi Dress pattern is really cute! You did a great job on the shirring! I know you will look fabulous in it! I used to make most of my dresses years ago. I kinda have gotten away from that. I worked at JoAnn Fabrics for 2 different stints and we made clothes for the store. Wasn't that snow storm something. It came down so fast and whoosh gone by the next day. It was so pretty!
