Tutorial: Holiday Pillow & Giveaway!

Oh my goodness, today's tutorial is ah-dor-ah-ble! Julianna of Jednoiglec (Sewing Under the Rainbow) is today's guest blogger and I have long been an admirer of her fabulous sewing skills. She's uber talented comes to us today from Poland! My friends, you are in for a super treat! She's put together a fabulous paper pieced reindeer pillow tutorial and it's fab! Very modern and fresh and full of festive cheer. Be sure to check out the reindeer names on the antlers!

Here's Julianna!

Hello! My name is Julianna and I blog over at Sewing Under Rainbow. When Jennifer invited me to join Deck the Halls I immediately agreed (thank you Jennifer for inviting me!).

I would love to share with you 'Not so spring deer' pattern - paper piecing block measuring 16 1/2" finished. I made with it a festive pillow:

To see the full post click READ MORE below!

Supplies (for making block):
- F8 of fabric for deer bodice,
- FQ of background fabric,
- optionally: scraps (for fussy cut antlers) and fabric for snowflakes appliqués.

If you want to make pillow similar as mine, you'll need to prepare batting, fabric for back and for lining, ribbon, (optionally) zipper.

Not so spring deer' is for confident beginners, but if you are new to paper piecing please read first wonderful tutorial made by Faith @ Fresh Lemons Quilts, which shows step by step everything about paper piecing (you'll find this tutorial HERE. Jennifer also has one HERE.)

I prepared a pdf pattern (with great help of Joanna @ Shape Moth, who draw it in EQ7) - download it from HERE. Make sure your printer scale this pattern in 100%. Some pieces are large and you'll have to glue them together.

Here's the scheme, which could help you while piecing the block:

This pattern contains one unusual piece (F). This is the piece with no stitches on it, just a shape, which should be joined with pieces A-E firstly pieced together - just as on this photo:

I hope you'll like my pattern and you'll have a lot of fun with piecing it!

I would love to see your blocks, so don't hesitate to put photos in my Flickr group:)

And don't forget about wonderful giveaway from Sew Fresh Fabric on my blog!

Thanks Julianna for your awesome pattern and tutorial! I can't wait to see more Not So Spring Deer pop up in blogland and give the pattern a go myself!

Definitely take the time to check out all of Julianna's other tutorials while you are visiting her blog to enter the giveaway!

Then be sure to stop and visit all the bloggers from this series. Everyone has a giveaway to share with you!

OMG! I have to sew this deer. Thanks so much for the paper-pieced pattern. I like paper-piecing and NOW, as though I don't have enough to do preparing for the Christmas holidays, I have to sew-up this deer. I HAVE to drop everything and do this deer. Thanks!
