Holiday Lane Blog Hop!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go...
I LOVE this time of year. It's just so magical and special.

My daughter is 4 and so excited about Christmas this year. She is such a sweetie and is often thinking of others. She always wants to make things for friends and family as gifts. I love her sweet heart.

It truly is so much fun to make something for someone else, especially when it's a surprise. I get giddy with anticipation over seeing their reaction and hopefully their appreciation.
Christmas pillow - made for my grandmother. :) She loved it.

I knew when it was my turn to make the Holiday Lane Blog Hop pillow that I would give mine to my sweet grandmother. She's 95 and is still sharp and funny and going strong. I hope I got her genes!

(Read more of this post by clicking the link below.)

We spent Thanksgiving together this past weekend, and I brought her the pillow to brighten up her apartment. She doesn't do a Christmas tree anymore but I knew she would appreciate something festive. I'm happy to say she loved it.

I had to put my spin on the pattern a bit and decided to applique the houses, forgo the flange, modify the layout and adjust the length.

Have you tried pebble quilting? O-M-G- so fun! I loved it and can't wait to try it again. If there are rules to pebble quilting, I don't know them so don't look too close.

I do wish I had put the houses on a road or something that set them up a bit higher and more front and center on the pillow. The pebble quilting gives it a great snowy sky though so I think it works out just fine.

Thanks Madame SammPauline, and Jill of Jilly Studio for including me in this hop!

My first thought when I saw your pillow way, "Oooooh! Snow!" :)

Your grandmother sounds a lot like my husband's grandmother, who is 92. I love that you gave the pillow to her.

Your pillow is beautiful and your grandmother must treasure it! What a great addition to her decor since she doesn't put up a tree anymore. Lovely!

I've never tried pebble quilting. This looks like the perfect project for it. I have a quilt I'd love to pebble quilt, but it looks too time intensive for me. But a pillow is doable. Nice!

Great pillow and the pebble quilting is wonderful. I practiced it a bit but haven't tried it on anything. Fun but time consuming!!

You are so lucky to still have your grandmother. I miss both of mine so much! They both quilted and sewed and that is where I learned.

I love your pillow! The pebble quilting is great! I have done some of it and it is time consuming but adds such a fantastic effect, that it is worth it.

I never thought about adding a road under the houses... I thought too that they were too close to the bottom... I may make another and try adding a road... Thanks for the idea...

I'm sure she will love this pillow! I love the white background fabric and your choice of house fabrics. Also, the buttons make such cute doorknobs. Great job!

Love your pretty pillow! You are so fortunate to still have your grandmother. One of mine died from a stroke when I was 2 weeks old, so I know her only from what others have told me. My other grandma lived to be 88, but I was only 7. She quilted, knitted, and crocheted. I remember watching her knit. I have a few things that she made. I like to think she had some creative influence on me. soparkaveataoldotcom

Beautifully done, Jennifer!

Yes, pebble quilting has to be one of the most fun ways to quilt. Good choice for your pillow - looks like falling snow!
