Blogger's Quilt Festival Quilt

Hey y'all! Welcome new visitors from Blogger's Quilt Festival.
I'm so glad you're here.

I hope you'll stick around for a bit and check out my tutorials and the Scrappy Stash Quilt-Along, currently in progress!

And, have you heard about Sew South? I'm hosting a fabulous modern sewing retreat in Charlotte, NC March 21-24, 2013. I'd love for you to come! There will be 4 make and take workshops, swaps and lots of sewing time! There are 11 tickets left so check out all the details here and grab your ticket before they're all gone!

Now, down to business!
hexie ispy 1
This is the Hexie I Spy quilt I made for my kids this fall and entered it into the Festival of Hexagons contest. I was super excited when I won 1st place! Wow!

I had such a great time making this quilt using all the fun I Spy charms I'd gotten from two swaps. The idea for this quilt had been running around in my brain for months but the contest was just the motivation I needed to actually get it done.

It's a fun quilt to use and actually play I spy on and it's a great size for kids to snuggle under.

The hexagons are machine appliqued onto the background fabric and then I quilted around the star.

This was my first hexie quilt and my first I Spy quilt. Now, what to make with my leftover charms....

Quilt details:
size: 46" x 52"
Special techniques: English Paper Pieced Hexagons, Applique
Quilting by: Jennifer Mathis
Best Cateogry: Applique, Baby Quilt, Throw Quilt

Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you at Sew South!

Jennifer

I love how different it is from the "typical" I spy quilt and the "typical" hexagon quilt!

I am not usually a fan of I Spy quilts, but this one is definitely an exception. I love it!

I loved this quilt the first time I saw it, but I think I love it even more now that I'm seeing it again. A perfect festival entry!
