Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

Hey, hey, it's Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day! Yay!
It's Sunday night, and I'm sitting on the sofa flipping back and forth between Oprah with Gayle and Paula Deen fishing for catfish in their pajamas in Paula's front yard pond and the Billboard Music Awards. Both are worth a good chuckle and are making writing this post take a lot longer than necessary! :)

Today's been a good day- sparkly sunshine, a family walk to the coffee shop, playtime with the kids, washed the cars and had time to browse online pics from Quilt Market. Love the eye candy!

I also had a chance to work on a few new blocks for a special project that I can't wait to show you! Here's a sneak peek.

It's also the 7th day of the Summer Sewing Contest Inspirational Blog Hop.
Ellison Lane Quilts

After you enter my giveaway, be sure to pop over to Lots of Pink Here to check out what Amy has whipped up for summer sewing.

I couldn't get the Rafflecopter to work, either :(

However, that little pouch is just gorgeous! I'm going to have to go and see if I can still find any of that fabric in that colorway.

I really love my Kindle! and I thought The Hand That First Held Mine was a great novel.

I am a follower in my Google Reader. And to follow up with the changes, I'm not sure what you should read next... it really depends on what you like. I love romance so I tend to read light reads like that. In the fall, I read The Help, so if you haven't read that, I would recommend it. Some books that I have sitting around just waiting to be read... The Forgotten Garden, The Devil in the White City, The Alchemyst (a young adult book, but still...)

Books? Like Water for Chocolate is one of my favorites. I'm going to start Little Bee to see if I want to teach that in the fall. The Time Traveler's Wife is not linear--it jumps around in time--and I really loved that book. The protagonist is completely flawed and completely lovable. That's a hard mix to write!

I loved reading through the comments about books! I second the recommendations for the Sue Grafton series (she's gotten better as she's made her way through the alphabet), the Sookie Stackhouse books are good--I think the series has run its course, though. Also LOVED The Hunger Games trilogy, even though dystopian stuff isn't normally my type of thing. I have friends who won't read it because they think it's like Twilight. I loved it--it isn't--and I admit I'm a Twihard, too. Ahem. The best book that I've read recently is Julie Orringer's "The Invisible Bridge". SOOOOOO good. Last summer's best read was "Someone Knows My Name" by Lawrence Hill. I could go on... join Good Reads if you aren't on it yet, it's fantastic.

Good timing, because I just finished reading the first books I've read for pleasure in years (I'm an English teacher, so I usually have to read a ton for work!) Anyway, it's the Fablehaven series. There are five in the series. Thanks! gabengayle(at)cox(dot)net
