In between projects- a pincushion (using Kim's fabulous tutorial,) a quilt, a bag, and a clutch, I'm putting together my daughter's 4th birthday party here on Saturday.

We've never done a big birthday for her and this year she is all into it and all about princesses.
My little girl LOVES to dress up. She loves dresses and skirts and costumes and fairy wings and crowns. I love it.
She seriously has a wardrobe change every thirty minutes at home (do not get me started about the laundry!) but I can hardly squash her imagination and want her to relish in dress up and costume play.
So, on to the princess birthday - since there are both boys and girls coming to the party and it's in our back yard, the princess theme will be carried out in paper products, balloons, and a princess scavenger hunt. At the end of the scavenger hunt, they'll find a crown for each of them which I decided to make yesterday.
I really didn't want to do a treat bag full of little plastic trinkets and candy. Instead I wanted to do something more personal and fun.
Thankfully the crowns are really easy to put together. I have a TON of felt left over from crowns I used to sell in my Etsy shop, and I used my Sizzix Big Shot (which I had before my Accuquilt Go! Baby) which makes quick work of the cutting.

Hope your week is going well!

Love it! My boys used to like to play knights and dragons. They would run around the house in fruit of the spirit armor looking for the dragon. At one point they decided I could be the dragon. I had been hoping for beautiful princess.
Happy Birthday to your little princess. Looks like a fun party, will look forward to pictures.
I am loving the pincushion and checked out the tutorial! Thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to hearing all about your little Princess' birthday party. Oh, what fun!! ~karen
My mom used to have huge birthday parties for me--princess crowns were part of one, and mom had all kinds of relay race games (she was a PE teacher). Pretty crepe paper streamers, and magic wands are always good too. Hope your daughter has a wonderful time (and that you survive--you are brave and crazy, but it should be great fun!! :)
Sounds like so much fun! I have 2 little girls so I know all about the princesses and fairies!! Gotta love being 4!! Have a great weekend!
How fun! Sending you lots of energy to make it through to the party. The crowns are so cute and such a nice take-home vs. plastic stuff.
Happy 4th Bday Princess G!
You are cracking me up! That sounds like something I would do too, decide to handmake something moments before the event! I'm sure they will get done and be adorable! Have fun!

Love it, I would attempt the same thing and not sleep for days. Happy birthday and can't wait to see the recap.
Love the pincushion. Hope your daughter has a wonderful party on Saturday and I can't wait to see pics of it. I love kids parties so I'm having a party on Saturday night too. The last party I has was when I turned 40 and on Monday I shall be 65 so I thought it was time I had another.

I think I may need a crown for ME!!!! The people of the house need to know who is in charge around here :o)
Can't wait to see the party pics!
ROFL, love the fairy princess die cutter! As for the 19 kids, err, yeah, good luck with that one!
It`s such an amazing age isn`t it? Zaki turns 4 in a couple of weeks and I`m still trying to decide about the party. Looks like your little princess will have an amazing day.
Sounds like a great party! :)
With all those princesses, I think you need a crown, too - Queen of Crowns?
All I can say is holy crap. I'm sure your daughter is going to have a blast. As a parent, I LOVE your giveaway idea (but I think you're nuts!). The less plastic crap that comes into the house, the better.
Your little princess is very lucky to have a creative mama as her queen!
