Cosmic Burst Stars Collide

A while back designer Mark Cesarik sent me a couple of charm squares from his new line Cosmic Burst.

I was really excited to see what I could do with these.  The colors are amazing - really bright and bold- lots of yellow, gold, green, pink, and purple.  All of them are really vibrant.

They seem to be screaming out for wonky stars, and I've been itching to do an interlocking star pattern like I've seen on Flickr and Pinterest.

This is the third mini quilt I've made recently, and I love how it turned out. The little patchwork in the corners gives it some balance and adds pops of color.  Since I was working with 5" charms, I cut all of my squares 2.5."

I hand quilted it with an aqua Aurifil 12 wt which is just lovely. I do so ♥ Aurifil.  This mini quilt finishes up at about 15.5" square.

Pretty cute way to jazz up a sewing space! Thanks Mark for the awesome fabric! Cosmic Burst will be available this spring.

Fab fabrics - love the colors! Your mini is adorable and it is amazing how the coner blocks kind of ground the whole thing. Can`t wait to link up!

Ugh! Those fabrics are amazing and you're right, they are just perfect as wonky squares. I made my first wonky squares last month for my Modern 99 bee.

Oooh - I'm not up on my quilting lingo - is a weight of 12 heavier than the regular stuff? It looks lovely - did you do the binding by hand? I'd love to try some Aurifil, I've heard great things about it.
I'm getting so excited about submitting my mini - I just finished it yesterday - and I started the day you announced the challenge (lots of hand-work)!!!

Could you do a tutorial (or recommend one) for the new quilters. I need to learn a more about hand quilting and stitching. Also, how do you sign your quilts - those for new babies, id like to add additional info weight , date +...any advice?

Just love your interlocking stars. I must try this pattern. I fear my mini will not be ready. I am having quilting issues. I had it half-way finished and decided I really am a horrible FMQ'er. I'm going to try to tackle it again tomorrow.
