Thanks for the giveaway!

It's a hard choice :) I still love Echo (especially the Florine and Moira prints) and Outside Oslo (can't really pick just one favourite) and Stockholm looks interesting too, I'd love to see it "in person" :)

Judy said...

I have to say first off that I was so happy to be able to go to the "Designer" page and up popped the designers pictures along with their names. It makes it so much more personal having their faces match the names. So with that said I loved the designs of Pillow & Maxfield. The colors and designs were beautiful and I've never even heard of them. Thanks for the chance.

I look for the different choices in fabrics to offer.. then the sales! =) Most shops on line offer good quality materials too!
Loving the colors in that stack! Thank you!

The most important thing for me is customer reviews. After getting a very short fat quarter from an online purchase I'm a little jaded. Thanks for the giveaway and this post. I'm ordering some Kona today!!

Cheryl said...

When buying online, I look for great deals on shipping and items. I also ask friends where they buy to get good recommendations.

Donna Joy said...

I look at the shipping information, and customer reviews.
Marmalade has a great selection. Thanks for the wonderful fabric giveaway.

Lucy @ Charm About You said...

Marmalade Fabrics are wonderful!
Honestly I look at price and postage costs (being in the UK). Good pictures, an idea of scale, and being able to purchase fat quarters helps too!
I like being able to search by colour, I find that really helpful if looking for something specific.

JLG said...

I honestly look at price and postage and customer service! I have order from marmalade before and it was wonderful! I will again!

Fun fabrics! :)

I look for availability of the fabrics I am wanting and price/shipping.

Chris {frecklemama} said...

I look for large selection of modern fabric. I love custom FQ bundles and all pre-cuts. I also like good shipping deals. That's probably the one thing that helps me pull the trigger on a purchase. Also, when I get a newsletter that offers a discount on my total purchase, I often take advantage of it. I can't wait to check out Marmalade. Thanks!

Sara @ Sew Sweetness said...

I'd say large selection, free shipping and/or discount!

Carri Wright said...

When shopping online I look for fabrics that yell out to me "buy me" but I also look at price, customer satisfaction, and shipping. A great photograph so really see the true colors is great too. I love being able to buy fabric in Fat quarter and half yard bundles too.

Aside from cost and shipping, I look for selection. Are there different fabric lines there? Stockholm looks fantastic!

I look for coordinating fabrics when shopping on line.

I think I first look at shipping and how much that will add to my online purchase. If a website doesn't make it clear as to how their shipping works or how to order fabric I'm turned off. A well organized simple to maneouver website is a must.
and of course variety...

Kelsey said...

I look at the price and if they'll cut FQs that's a big plus!!

robin said...

I would have to agree with krisgray and say good customer service. And fast shipping.

marth225 said...

Since I can't touch or see it in person I have to rely on the design and of course the price.

Marcia W. said...

Lower prices than a LQS for products, no handling fees, low or no shipping cost
If costs more online, might as well drive to a LQS.

Susanne said...

For me it is all about the selection and variety. I pay a lot for international shipping so I order about 6-8yards. I need a lot of choices :)
Best wishes

Pictures are important to me when buying fabric online, I'd like to be able to tell the scale of the prints, be able to zoom in and out. Also really important to me is the shipping price to Canada. Thanks for the giveaway!

The most important thing I look for when purchasing fabric is first:
Do I like the color and/or print.. Then I look for quality and price. Thanks for the opportunity to win this fabric.

Jill aka ThatMoxieGirl said...

When I shop online for fabrics, I am usually shopping for a fabric I know so I am looking for the least expensive price. Other than that, I like to see fabric content, scale and measurements. Thank you for the chance at a giveaway. I'm hosting one on my blog too if you'd like to stop by. :)

B Greene said...

I like the ability to order smaller amounts of material - I am glad that Marmalade sells fat quarters! I am a scrappy stash builders, so I like having a little bit of a lot of different fabrics!

Thanks for the great giveaway!!

Taisia @ Piecing Light said...

Ability to say how close one is to filling the initial size of international shipping bag in yardage (or if it is possible to ship a single FQ for less than the $17 USPS has just made the minimum! letters are quite doable for that...) The USPS price increase has slashed almost all thought of buying from US-based fabric sellers for me, simply because so few of them offer an option cheaper than $17 to ship anything.

Brenda said...

I am hopping over to check out a new quilt shop for me... Yay!! I live in a small town of less than 400 residents, so online shopping is a way of life for me. The most important thing that I look for in a quilt shop is having the full line of each selection... at least initially. Not that I won't still shop if the main prints are available in a collection and the price is competitive. But for keeping shipping costs minimal, it is nice to be able to fill a whole order for a quilt. Plus, easy site navigation really helps.

I look forward to getting to know your shop Tammy! Thanks for a chance at this wonderful giveaway!

Christie S. said...

I've never purchased fabric online, but I love the Curious Nature line. Thanks for the chance.

When I shop online for fabric I usually have something very specific in mind for a specific project. Then when I find what I need, I look around that shop for bargains & pick up a few yards of whatever catches my eye. Love the colors in Stockholm - thanks for the chance.

gccmom said...

My most important question when buying online is the shipping costs. I recently purchased something online and was charged $4.50 for shipping. When I got the package, it had only cost them $0.65 to mail it. Needless to say, I feel very ripped off. I do not order from any site that does not clearly state their shipping charges in an easy to find place. Now, onto nicer things. These fabrics are lovely and I will definitely go to the site and have a look-see! Thanks for the giveaway.

Gill said...

When I'm buying from abroad the shipping charges are the most important thing! Otherwise I'm looking for a good range of fabrics and great customer service

Sarah said...

Most important for me is price I have limited fabric funds so I try to make my money stretch if I can.

Lisa @ Sixmunchkin Stitching said...

Thanks for a great giveaway. The thing I look for when buying fabric, is will I like the prints/colors/overall feel of the design. Sometimes I have to think of who it's for, project wise, and think outside my normal comfort pallet and choose what they'd like.

Thanks for introducing me to this great onlineshop, so beautiful fabrics!
I like to sit at home and shop, and the service in these onlineshop is fabulos.
Thanks for the chance to win too.

Mary Anne said...

I look at a number of factors - price, shipping and selection are the most important. I tend to not buy fabric online unless I have seen it "in person" so that I'm not surprised!

Marmalade offers competitive pricing and shipping rates and excellent customer service. Tammy is a fellow KC MQG member so I do have a bit of a bias. I am thrilled to see her business growing!

Lisa Cox said...

I look at return policies because colors don't always show up correctly on a computer screen. I hate buying fabric for a specific project and then finding out that it wasn't really the color that I needed.

AnnieK said...

Unless I'm already familiar with a particular collection, I always look for good quality images, and being able to zoom in is a plus. Great prices are wonderful, but if your fabric doesn't look as you expected, and the colors weren't true in the pic, you didn't get much of a bargain.

I'd have to say I look at the selection first and then price. Thanks for the chance to win!

Shopping online is so convenient. I like to buy from small businesses if possible and like to look for eco-friendly/organic fabrics. Good customer service/reviews is a must!

♥Duff said...

I look at a number of things: prices, turnaround time, I like "real" pictures of the fabric, not computer-generated ones, and a ruler to gauge print size.

Valerie said...

I love Marmelade! My hubby ordered an Echo fat quarter set for me for Christmas from her -sweetest note attached and very quick processing of order. When shopping online, I look first for competitive pricing and fast and fair shipping costs. I tend to be a loyal customer when I'm happy!

selfsewn said...

I dont really look for anything specific when buying online...they usually just call to me..just like this stockholm bundle is!

Catskill Quilter said...

I look for reputation. If a shop does not treat customers well, the word gets out quickly, and if customer service is wonderful, people spread that news also!

Leslie said...

The most important thing for me to consider when purchasing online is the shipping. I usually have to check multiple websites for the fabric I would like then compare the shipping costs.

Thanks for the giveaway...

i like being able to browse fabrics online in a variety of ways: by collection, designer, or by color, as the mood strikes. it can be frustrating if it's difficult to find what i'm looking for.

Shipping cost is the most important thing that I look for when purchasing fabric online.
I like the free for $50 and over.
Thanks.

Kari said...

Color, Color and more Color! Then I look at the cost of shipping.

hiyacinth said...

I look for selection--if I'm not looking for a particular line or color or type, I'm looking for interesting new, fresh designs.

Grandmasewnsew said...

I have to say that it's price. That is, a good price for quality fabric. If one shop has what I want at a better price, I'm more likely to shop there and then to buy more especially if they have free shipping for a purchase of over $35 or $50 dollars. I also love it when a shop discounts older quality fabric lines. Many online shops have great fabrics. I shop at those stores whose prices are great too! And I've never been disappointed.

If Toys Could Talk said...

Once I find a fabric I want to buy, I usually shop around to find the best price (yardage and shipping). Most places are competitive on designer prints, but I'll definitely give a shop my business if it has a sale or coupon going for the print I want to buy. :)

Sue said...

The most important thing I look for is shipping cost. Great fabrics, thx for the opportunity.

Michele said...

All of the things you said about this shop are important...selection, price and service. Any special program is a nice bonus. I hadn't heard of them before so I'm heading over to chekc them out. I am in need of some Kona cotton right now.

Loralei said...

The most important thing I look for first, is a fabric that matches my vision. Secondly, it is the cost of shipping; if I can get free shipping with a bigger order, I will usually hunt for more fabric that I like- so, another important feature is to showcase co-ordinating fabric while I am looking at what I like.

Teje said...

Hi! Thank you for a great give away! I'm happy to visit a new (for me) online shop! Those Stockholm fabrics are beautiful and have great colours!
I look first colours, then prints and then prize. Also it's good if you find easily matching colours and buy small amounts.
Thank you Marmalade!

Unfortunately, the one thing that makes or breaks whether I shop on line is shipping costs. I live in Canada and in many cases, shipping to Canada is completely unreasonable. But actually, Marmalade fabrics is one that I have bookmarked because there's is more reasonable.

Thanks for the giveaway!

Jacey said...

It's so great of you and Marmalade Fabrics to host this giveaway, Jen!
I think price is definitely the ultimate factor of where I purchase fabrics. I also love thumbnail images in the shopping cart, so I can see the fabrics I've picked together.

Tiffany said...

Of course, the most important thing is price, followed closely by shipping. I've gotta make sure it's really worth it to buy a particular bit of fabric!

rebekah said...

I think the most important thing a fabric store needs is to be in touch with the trends and what they're customers want. It's hard to put so much money and have fabric just sitting on the shelves.

1. Selection - if they don't have what I want, obviously I won't buy from you.
2. PRICE! This will hook me!
3. That said, after you have what I want at the right price, I will be loyal to you if I get good service. Even if later someone else has a better price, I'll stick with you!

Trish said...

I'm from Canada, so most of all, shipping (combined with the price of the fabric) has to be reasonable.

Libby said...

When buying fabric online I look for good customer reviews.

Home Designs by Amanda said...

When looking into buying fabric online I usually look to see if it is a good deal along with reasonable shipping. It seems like you can find a great deal on the fabric, but then you have to pay alot for shipping...or the other way, you find a great deal on shipping but then you pay a larger price for the fabric. I don't have a lot of money to spend on fabric...I can't waste what I do have on shipping :)

MC said...

The most important thing to me when shopping for fabric online is to get an idea of the thickness or weight of the fabric. Very few shops bother with that information and sometimes you end up with very thin fabric that doesn't play well with others in your stash.

Quilting "b" said...

Thank you for the introduction to the stockholm prints. It is beautiful. I do most of my shopping for fabric from the comfort of my home. It is important for me to have high quality pictures and lots of selection. The cost of shipping also is important. I tend to buy lots of fabric at one time to cut down on the shipping cost. Thank you for a great giveaway. I would really like t win this one.

A decent fabric price per yard and most importantly the shipping prices. I typically buy online when there are sales or for fabrics that are more difficult to get like international lines (Japanese, etc).

Melissa @ Sew BitterSweet Designs said...

I like great customer service. I have a hard time with online shopping b/c you never really know if your fabrics are going to match, but if a shop owner is willing to take the time to help me match fabrics, then they have a customer for life.

when I shop online I am either looking for a specific fabric, or a good price. I always factor in the shipping cost when I calculate cost per yard to see if I am really getting a good deal. Love those Stockholm prints!! Also love that the name is Stockholm-- as I have a Swedish son-in-law. :-) When I'm shopping online for fabric, there are a few things that I look for--- the option of purchasing in smaller amounts (like fat quarters, for instance), rewards programs, reasonable shipping charges, and friendly customer service are all very important factors, and it looks like Marmalade Fabrics offers all that and more! I'm definitely bookmarking their shop! Thank you for the chance to win! :-)

I recently ordered for the first time from Marmalade fabrics and the fabric arrived so beautifully wrapped! That Stockholm is beautiful. I look for so much - swiftness in dispatching the order is pretty high along with cost!

supersara20 said...

I look for price and selection. Sometimes the cheapest priced store has a very limited selection so it doesn't make sense to spend all the money on shipping. I also really like fat quarters, most of my projects are scrappy and I just don't need a 1/2 yard of everything I like.

Jenelle said...

If I am buying many cuts of fabric from different lines I look for a shop with a fair price that carries them all to save on shipping and the hassle of multiple orders. A good selection of solids is also very helpful, especially if some of those solids are selected as pairings with different prints and collections. Price also is very important to me, frankly. If I am able to spend a little bit less to make one project, I have that much more to spend on another.

I always check the shipping costs, because a great sale isn't so great if the shipping costs are excessive.

Customer service is also important. Read the customer reviews -- they usually are a good indication if something is amiss.

Thank you for the giveaway, and for steering me towards this shop. I'm going to buy some Kona!

The Stockholm is great! In shopping online I look for selection--often I find one fabric here and another somewhere else that I want--makes it too expensive to buy each, so I look for a diverse selection of lovely fabrics or other things I need, reasonable prices and shipping.

The most important thing I look for when getting fabric is.... does the fabric match the person Im makeing something for?

I love these fabrics

I want low shipping costs and a phone number to call and talk to someone in person if anything goes wrong with my order or if I have questions about a certain fabric.

I look for international shipping options and of course modern fabrics
Thanks for organizing the give away.

How exciting to have yet another sponsor!!! The first thing that attracts me to fabric is the color. It's like candy for the eye!! If I'm shopping in a traditional quilt shop I don't worry about how the fabric is made and that it is 100% cotton. If I see "eye candy" somewhere else, after loving the color, I check the manufacturer and that it is 100% cotton.

Oh by the way, I received all my lovely eye spy fabrics in the mail yesterday. Thanks for all your hard work!

Thanks for a chance to win this fat quarter bundle! Doreen

I normally don't buy online because I like to feel the fabric. I will buy online, if the color isn't critical, & if I know the brand & seller.

The Marmalade line is beautiful.

I always look for clarity of the pictures, the ones that match the fabrics true colors, I'm more likely to buy then because if its a new print to me, i know what I'm ordering!

sarah said...

obviously, i have to go with price. and shipping costs. and the ability to get more than one thing that i'm shopping for from the same place... thus saving on shipping. :)

thanks for the giveaway!

I look for decent fabric prices as well as shipping prices. Great selection of fabric lines is key too!

When I buy fabric online, I'm definitely hoping to find the best deal for my money. I also do like shops that offer small bundles of fabric for under $20. I don't have the budget for a full set of fabrics from a line -- usually over $50 a pop -- but I love to purchase a small set when I can. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

Like alot of people I'm interested in getting a good price but what I really look at is how easy it is to get around the site. If its to hard to figure out where I need to go than I'll just go somewhere else. Have to say, this stack of Stockholm is fabulous!

When shopping online I look for how easy it is to find what I am looking for. If a site is irritating I will go elsewhere!

I am Canadian, so the first thing I look for is reasonable shipping rates to Canada!!! Flat rate boxes are perfect, it is predictable how much it will cost to send a certain amount of yardage. Some online shops inflate shipping to Canada by 2 or 3 times that rate, sad but it just seems like gouging! :) Thanks for sharing this lovely bundle of fabric! WOuld love to win it!

I look for the fabric photo being as close to the colour I see on screen as it is in person. Also love a good price. Thanks for the chance.

The most important thing to me when ordering fabric on line is customer service first; selection of fabric, second, and shipping cost, lastly.

Thanks for the contest! I love the Stockholm collection.

Good pricing is a must, free shipping and if I need them, free swatches.

I always check that they do actually ship to Canada, and that shipping won't cost an arm and a leg.

I look at shipping costs to Canada before I look at anything else. If it is below 12 i will keep shopping if not then I don't bother looking at the website at all/

Price is obviously a factor but I really try to find out about the shop before I buy (user reviews, testimonials, etc.). Good customer service is key! Thanks for introducing this new (to me) fabric store and for chance to win! Rhonda (marshudson at comcast dot net)

Just like in a touch fabric store I look for the fabric that grabs me. Then I check out the how what and where of it and how does it play with other fabrics. Price and shipping are important and reputation. I like the Stockholm FQs, they are crisp. Thanks.

I look at price first - important when it has to be shipped to the UK. Also, a good selection of fabrics and great customer service.
Thanks for the lovely giveaway!

Josie McRazie said...

I look for a great selection, I prefer to only shop at places I know others have also had good experiences with, and hey throw in a great deal, like free shipping or a free FQ, and I'm there! Great giveaway!!

The most important thing for me is shipping cost. If the shipping cost isn't reasonable I look elsewhere.

Marcia R said...

I want the fabric to be shipped out quickly and to be packaged with loving, tender care.

Lately I've become more persnickety about the quality...Marmalade Fabrics looks awesome - and with so many Kona colors to choose from, I think they might become my go-to shop for solids!

Great giveaway - thank you! I look for a combination of a site that's easy to navigate, where you can look by different criteria, etc. and good customer service. Of course, price and reasonable postage costs are important but I'd rather pay a small percentage more and get good service than buy something that's cheaper and get bad service...

soren2go said...

I look for known companies that provide quality goods, good prices, free or minimal shipping costs.

Jennifer said...

I look for 2 things when looking at Online fabric Merchants. The cost of the fabrics and the cost of shipping. I usually stick to brands I know and have worked with, or if I try something new its something that had been recommended. :)

ylrbmk said...

I always look for well-known designers and manufacturers.

Shopping for fabric online - I look first at selection since I either have a specific project in mind or a couple of lines I'm looking to add to my stash at a good price. And shipping costs since they can add up especially if you aren't ordering very much.

I think a good picture that lets you get a feel for the scale and colour of the design is important... and then you always want to be able to get some other coordinating fabric from the same shop while you're buying!

Holly said...

I look at the shipping cost...it can add a lot to the pric of an order!

Richard Healey said...

What is the most important thing you look for when purchasing fabric online?

Call me funny its the presentation and layout of the website and lighting and color on the material. If I cant tell what I am buying or I cant find where it is in the show I go.

yummm ... this is a very nice bundle, love the prints! i do most of my fabric shopping online ... i'm an impulse buyer and have a large list of shops available, but i do pay attention to fabric fiber, price, and whether or not it would 'do' for my stash.

Rebecca said...

I always buy designer fabric online so I know I'm getting good quality. I usually buy with a purpose, decide what fabric I want, and then go to my favourite shops to see who carries it.
