Things I Am Loving

This week has been all about:

Downton Abbey

Please tell me you are watching this. It is just SO GOOD! I am midway into Season 2 and love it all- the characters, the drama, the love, the costumes, the accents!

I find myself thinking and speaking with a British accent- quite a change from my Southern one. :)

You can watch Season 1 through Netflix or Amazon Prime and then part of Season 2 online at PBS as it is airing on Sunday evenings on TV in the US.

Go. Watch. It. You will LOVE it!

When I haven't been watching, I've been sewing and have been loving foundation piecing.

Not paper piecing with the little cut outs--this time I've been sewing right through the paper.

And it's fun and kinda awesome.

I've also been loving my new Quilt Pro for Mac software.  I'm still learning but this seems to be a good alternative for EQ since I have a Mac. I like that I can plan layouts, create blocks, alter existing blocks, try out colors and fabrics, print foundation patterns and get rotary cutting charts as well as fabric requirements.

I know quilt math is good for me but I can't say I enjoy it!

I am still loving Loulouthi:

Will it ever wear out its welcome? Not any time soon for me.

Also been loving these little buddies.
My little guy has started walking! He's a bit wobbly but so proud of himself!
This is his serious face- rarely seen!

And my sweet girl is in a dress up costume of some sort every day. I love it. This was before school one morning when I just couldn't believe how grown up she is getting!

Yes, loving those buddies indeed.

So tell me... what are you loving these days?

PS: Don't forget to come back tomorrow for all the details about the Modern Mini Challenge!! You WON'T want to miss it!

I'm loving both foundation piecing and Downton Abbey too. The only bleak spot is that after carefully avoiding the season 2 Christmas special when I was back home in England (I'd only seen a couple of episodes of season 2 so I didn't want to spoil the ending), one of my friends totally posted a spoiler on facebook. Now that I'm watching the rest of season 2 I keep kicking myself that I know the big ending - and wasted 2 hours on Christmas evening sitting in my room knitting instead of curled up by the fire with my mom and sister watching the Christmas special.

adorable (as usual!) munchkins♥

I've heard so much about Downtown Abbey lately that I'll have to try it out. And yes! it's on Netflix! Described as "Cerebral, Understated" I'm in!!

I've been bad about sewing lately but that is changing tonight! see ya later!

Don`t listen to Katy - I love Downton Abbey and I don`t even live in England! It`s huge there and I imagine they could bring the whole thing up to the present day if they wanted. Series 3 will start in September! Do they put subtitles on for you guys? Love Loulouthi too and no, we won`t be tiring of it any day soon. Can`t see me loving paper piecing or foundation piecing any time soon. Have a great Sunday Jennifer!

Love, love, love Downton Abbey. As soon as I watch an episode, I can't wait for the next. I am taping them, which is probably a very old-fashioned term now. I am DVR-ing or TIVO-ing them so I can watch the episodes several times. I have the TIVO in my sewing room and the DVR in the living room so I can indulge my Downton craving any time I want.

I'm loving The Killing - the Danish version and hoping they put on another series soon.

I am also loving my children and wondering how one has reached the great age of eleven so quickly!

Nope. I'm not watching that show. In fact I'm not regularily watching anything. I do love that chair. Very cool. Your little ones are so adorable.

Downton Abbey - we loved that show..... glad you are enjoying it too (I won't spoil the ending!)

Haven't seen that show yet, but with so many fans I'll have to check it out! My daughter is in the dress up phase too and cries real tears if she can't wear a dress or skirt. The drama !! Loving that block you made- color placement is perfect. I hate quilt math too, but the Kaufman free app has saved me tons of times!

Elizabeth Dackson said...

Gosh, I'm going to have to cave soon and start watching some Downton Abbey myself! I'm probably the only person who hasn't seen it yet!! Love your foundation pieced block, it looks fab :)

I really really hope they show the Christmas Special at the end of Season 2. It's the hinge for the 3rd series which we'll get in September. Can't wait!

I have never watched a Downton Abbey, but it would probably be just like watching a home video to me!!

I loved Season 1 of Downton Abbey, and I am waiting impatiently for Season 2 to be shown on TV here " Down Under" in Australia.
Have you ever seen " Miss Potter"- the movie starring Renee Zellweger? I watched it for the 2nd time yesterday, I'm sure you would love it, and the scenery is gorgeous.
Your little cherubs are so sweet. Sandy. :)

OMG, I feel like I live under a rock! I must be spending too much time with my sewing machine. I've never even heard of Downton Abbey. Must be good!

Yes, foundation piecing is fun. I just tried it myself after being intimidated by it for too long. Now I can't get enough of it.

I'm loving this North Carolina "winter" weather. And I'm loving my little buddies too. Isn't it amazing how quickly they go from babies to big kids?!?

Michelle Chitty said...

I love Downton Abbey too although I just started watching it this season.

I confess that after you have read, I immediately wanted to know more about this series and I quickly hooked, I am only a second of the season but I have to say the story is captivating and endearing characters.

Children grow faster, even more when they return to pre-teen, but you still have some years of peace before you.

Oh yes! I love Downton Abbey. So glad you are too. I've seen Season 1 (several times)it never gets boring! My daughter TVo-ed it & started on w/ Episode 2. One of the comments stated that the next season starts in Sept. I didn't know that- I'm so happy

I love Downton Abbey too! I read somewhere, that they are bringing Shirley Maclain on to play Lady Grantham's Mother for next season. Not sure what to think about that yet. http://www.shirleymaclaine.com/news/announce-detail/announcement-185

I do so love to read your blog too;)

I purchased Downton Abbey Season 1 at Costco last year not knowing anything about it. So now that I've watched that season 4-5 times I am now enjoying the new ones in Season 2 that are playing on Sunday nights here in the States. My husband has even gotten into it. However he can't keep anyone's name straight and keeps asking who Matthew is. "He's the heir, the HEIR" I keep telling him. :-)

I'm also loving Loulouthi, but haven't had the courage to try paper piecing yet. Sounds like torture!

Yay for foundation piecing, I definitely prefer it to paper piecing although I will do both. And a big yay for little buddies, I have 2 buddies as well (we actually call one of them buddy as his nickname). Yours look like butter wouldnt melt, mine are so much fun but little terrors!

LOOOOVE Downton Abbey! I have the first season DVD, the book, and am eagerly awaiting delivery of the second season dvd! Its so hard to watch an hour a week on PBS! Shirley McClaine next season as Lady Grantham's mom....a perfect foil for the Dowager Countess. Fabulous
