Saturday Spotlight: Valerie

Oh you're going to love Valerie!

I met her at the Sewing Summit  after being blog buddies last year. Funny, I had to go all the way in Utah to meet her even though she lives just a few hours away from me in NC.

I am  thrilled to be able to introduce you to her today.

She's got a great sense of humor and is very real and down to earth- not to mention she has fabulous sewing skills!

Meet Val!

Stats:
Name: Valerie
Family: Hubby and 3 kiddos:  a 5 yr. old boy and 3 yr. old boy/girl twins
Location: North Carolina
Blog: http://betweenquilts.blogspot.com/
Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/betweenquilts/

What is your favorite:
place:Antigua, Guatemala.  Picture colonial style architecture from the 1500's, cobblestone streets, the buildings all painted a rainbow of colors as you walk down the street, an amazing mixture of modern-day styles and woven Mayan dress that hasn't changed in centuries...oh, and tons of great food and shopping.  It's an amazing place!

sound: My kids calling me "Mom"
movie: A Christmas Story
book: It's impossible to narrow to just one!  Often, my favorite book is whatever I'm currently reading.  Right now that happens to be Jen Hatmaker's 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess.  She is laugh out loud funny and strike-you-to-the-bone thought provoking.  It's kind of messing with my head at the moment...

word: Capuchi - the Spanish word for piggyback ride.  It's just fun to say!
article of clothing: yoga pants- so comfy I could live in them, and often do...but I really do yoga so I feel like it's justified :)
food: Chicago style pizza
dessert: Chocolate and caramel anything

fabric: Heather Bailey's Freshcut
sewing tool: Grab-a-roo gloves
thread:Aurifil
color: Orange

completed sewing project: Racing Stripes - This is the quilt I made for the Kona Solids Challenge.

quick finish sewing project: Rainbow Spotlight - This is a mini I did for a swap after Sewing Summit.

coffee or tea: COFFEE!
coke or pepsi: Can I say coffee again?
chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate.  Forever and ever.  Amen.
mountains or beach: Mountains
football or baseball: Whatever my hubby is watching :)
dog or cat: Dog!  The bigger the better.

minivan or suv: Minivan.  I officially apologize to my 20-something-self for breaking the no-minivan promise...but really?  She had no idea ... Your welcome, Former Me.

What is your day job? Former LCSW with a private practice turned Stay at Home Mom

What is your dream job? I think I'm doing it!  I can think of nothing else I'd rather be doing right now.  Wow, just typing that makes me thankful - I'll try to remember that next time my kids are driving me up a wall!

What is your favorite time waster? Um...Blog reading?  But I call it "Inspirational Research'", not a time waster ;)

Now, didn't you enjoy Val? She's a doll. Pop on over to Between Quilts and say hello!
