Super Swap!

OK, so I am a swap newbie. I'm also a Twitter newbie so I decided to get my feet wet by joining the #ssswap- a twitter only swap for Christmas.

Well let me tell you, I lucked out! This was a great swap- dreamed up by my friend Amy (aka Sukie) - and I received the best swap package ever!

But first, some details. This was a Christmas gift swap with a $15 limit. The items could be purchased- nothing had to be handmade and we had a few hints and suggestions to go by for our partners. I was assigned Mo Bedell, a fabric designer for Timeless Treasures. This is what I sent Mo.

Some Joel Dewberry Heriloom and tucked inside the zip pouch was some Aurifil.

I will admit to feeling a bit of pressure- but she sent me a note yesterday saying she loved her package of goodies so I was most relieved.

Now, I really lucked out as I got a fabulous box of goodies from Thomas Knauer.  He is the fabric designer of the line Pear Tree. I'd been following him on Twitter and hoping he'll make a swing by Charlotte on his fabric shop/guild tour (wouldn't that be so great for a CLT MQG meeting?!) but had no idea that he had my name for the swap.

So imagine my astonishment when I opened the box and found all of this!
Fabulous Pear Tree Fabric:

A Copy of the Field Guild to Fabric Design (something on my wish list.)

and, can you believe it? A QUILT!

Holy Cow! Yes, indeed it was a happy mail day, and I think I had the best newbie swap experience ever! Thank you Thomas!

It was so much fun that I have a feeling this is only the beginning of swaps for me.

What about you? What kind of swap would you want to do?

PS: You can find the Great Big Giveaway HERE.

Wow! Lucky you! What a great package. I'm a twitter "newbie" as well, and most of the time I can't even remember to check it. Getting better at that though. I also haven't really ever had a great swap experience, so I'm kind of hesitant to join in again (Not to mention I'm rather overbooked already. :) )

Fabulous swap! I love to swap. I have participated in several mini quilt swaps hosted by Victoria at 15 Minutes Play. Right now, I am participating in two house block swaps and a Super Stash Swap. What I love about the mini quilt swaps is the chance to try new things on a small scale. I have received some beautiful small quilts that liven up my rooms.

Wow, you lucked out! I do love the zip pouch you sent, it looks great with that fabric! I've never done a swap either, something I might try in the new year!

Dang, girl! You made out like a bandit! I've never done a swap, but I think I'd start small- small bags or a mini quilt.

It would be awesome to see Thomas at the CLTMQG... maybe since you "know" him now, he'll stop in!

Seriously?! That is AMAZING!! I mean, a QUILT?! And fabric?! Like Christmas came early... And I love the fabric you shared with your partner - and the pouch is so cute! I can see why you felt some pressure on that one:). I love swaps and am new to them myself - Post summit swap being my first (aside from local quilt guild stuff). I joined the x and + block exchange and an online bee for the new year. I'm really excited about the block swap - I love that it will be the same block with tons of different fabrics!!

What an incredibly fun package to find in the mail!

$15 limit?!? Thomas really undervalues his quilts! You are so unbelievably lucky, I love his designs.

I had never heard of that book but it looks amazing so I ordered myself a copy as a Christmas present.

Woo hoo!!!! That`s so unbelievably amazing Jennifer. The quilt is gorgeous and have made a mental note of the design! I love it and to be the meat in the designer sandwich looks fun. Enjoy Jennifer - you deserve it.

OH MY! Craziness!!! As soon as you started with the fact that you had a designer as your buddy, it made me feel squirmish, since I would have died from the pressure (I have never done a swap before either). Then you say that another designer had your name and I about died... then the QUILT?!?! Holy cow doesn't even begin to cover it! What a roller coaster! Congrats to you!! You are an amazing quilter and I love all that you do, so I think you really had nothing to worry about, and I am so glad you got such a nice gift. Merry Christmas! PS. Where do I sign up for the next swap??? lol
