Craft Book Month!

September is Craft Book Month over at Craft Buds. Lindsay and Mary's blog is full of fabulous ideas - you should definitely check it out.
Craft Book Month at Craft Buds
There will be great reviews, interviews and prizes, yes prizes too!

I have a whole list of craft books on my Christmas wish list. I often check them out at our local library first to see if it is something I really want.  These are top on my list at the moment:

My library's selection is pretty good but not great, so I often browse at the bookstore as well.  I can spend some serious time in Barnes and Nobel!

My Dreaming Under Dresdens quilt was inspired by the book Material Obsession.

I love so many of the quilts in this book but the one on the cover just sucked me right in.  I just knew I had to make one.

So what craft books inspire you?

Be sure to check out Craft Buds all month long!

The Craft book that inspires me the most is "The Practical Guide to Patchwork" by Elizabeth Hartman, I love all of her patterns and her instructions are Amazing

I have my eye on Fresh Quilting...I was just given Block Party and am enjoying it as a source of inspiration...Kaffe Fasset`s books are wonderful eye candy and I really enjoyed City Quilts and Jane Brocket`s Gentle Art of Quilting. BTW, I squared up my blocks and loved it in the end. Easy peasy and loved slicing off those raggedy edges. Thanks for the help.

I would loooove to get ahold of a copy of Sewing for Boys: http://pinterest.com/pin/166053308/. There are so few really cute patterns out there for little boys clothes - this book looks like it might fill the gap!

I've been inspired by Modern Log Cabin Quilting lately (also a pick from the library). :) Thanks for spreading the craft book love!

I love craft books! One of my favorite "mom time" things to do is hang out in the craft section at the book store. I too love Elizabeth Hartman's book, and Emily Cier's Quilt Remix, and City Quilts, and of course Denise Schmidt's Quilts book. But I have been in a Quilts Made Modern and Modern Quilts Workshop frame of mind lately (by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr). I recently won a Skype session with them and through a bunch of conincidences, they invited me to do it at their design studio! It was seriously the greatest time ever! I'll have to tell you all about it at Summit :).

Thanks for giving the link!

The first times we came to the US, my husband and I could spent whole days at B & N.... Browse books (he: Software, me: Sewing, Crochet, Childrens books), slipping Latte in the Café, browsing books again, drink another Mocha while reading all the Quilting magazines, and so on...
I still love it, especially because you can take all the books to the childrens department and have at least a chance to look in some interesting books while the children play with the wooden train.

I wait for "I am cute dresses"

Greetings,
Tina

PS have to buy two more yards of grey fabric today, finish the piecing, but have nearly all ironed already (hate it, hate it, hate it), and started already sewing the scrappy border.

I always try to get a book from the library before I buy it. In Maryland you can request a book from any library in the state, so there is a pretty good selection thanks to a few counties who must have librarian-quilters. The last one I got from the library was Modern Log Cabin Quilts. My sister is giving me my own copy for my birthday. And--I am so lucky--my parents went to a bookstore going out of business sale and my mom pretty much bought me a copy of every sewing/quilting book for my birthday and Christmas. Currently I am working on a quilt from the Moda Bake Shop book. I don't always follow the patterns in a book, but I certainly find looking at the photos inspirational.

My latest loves have been some second hand books by Jan Halgrimson - I still have to make more of the gorgeous blocks in there but they are filled with old familiar blocks and then others I haven't come across!

You know, I am more inspired by what I find on the internet, than in books. However....I do have The Modern Quilt Workshop in my amazon shopping cart. And I bought Sarah Fielke's new book, "Quilting from Little Things" from London, cause I didn't want to wait till it came out in the states. I love it. And I own a couple of KF's books. But I really get most of my inspiration from blogs! Hugs!
