Birthday Giveaway

Today is my 37th birthday. :)

I like birthdays. I don't mind getting older - in fact my 30s have been the best years of my life. I'm lucky- I'm healthy, I'm happy, and I have the best family and friends in the world. It doesn't get better than that.

Plus after being a breast cancer survivor, I don't take birthdays for granted.

So for my birthday I thought I would share one of my favorite things with you, my friends.

You know how much I love Aurifil- it makes my machine sing and is a dream to sew with. So today I am going to share some with you!

In fact, I am going to choose 4 winners. Each of you will receive one multipak of Aurifil threads.

To enter, simply leave a comment telling me your favorite way to celebrate your birthday. (Make sure your email address is included if you are a no-reply blogger or else I will need to choose someone else.)

I'll pick a winner next Tuesday.

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

Thanks!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love to celebrate my birthday with a nice dinner with my hubby at a restaurant I have been waiting to try. This year I changed things up and saw Harry Potter (yay), went bowling, and then went out for dinner with friends and family. It was a big day and turned out really nice. Hopefully your day does too!

I don't particularly care to go out for dinner so I simply would like to have our 3 girls home for dinner (and gosh, can I dream about no bickering??! :-) ).

If they *really* want to take me someplace, an ice cream cone would be delightful. :-)

I'm just very grateful to have a wonderful, healthy family.

Happy 37th birthday, and congratulations on being a survivor. Sometimes it takes a hard knock in your life to make you thankful for what you have, doesn't it? I try to remember, but sometimes the "pity me" days still rear their ugly head.

I'd love to win me some of those threads. I'm a fairly new quilter, and I'm building up my fabric and thread slowly but surely. I'd love to have me some of these unbelievably wonderful threads, though. It would feel like MY birthday if I won!

And how do I celebrate my birthdays? Well, I'm almost 60, and I haven't really celebrated my birthday in quite a few years. It's just another day. Kinda sad, but that's what happened years ago when the family kinda quit celebrating it, so it's been that way ever since.

I'll be 50 in a week! Have to say that it's taken me some time to adjust to that number in regards to me, but I think I'm there. I really just want to spend my day being aware and grateful for the people in my life.

Happy Happy Birthday to you! Birthdays are the biggest holidays in this household, another year to make our own!
We generally celebrate the entire month with special dinners of favorite foods, fun cupcakes, little gifts off and on throughout the month of those things we say "wish I had that" or "wouldn't it be kewl to have that". Little surprises.
And thank you for an awesome giveaway.

After all...our kids are our most precious gifts of all to us..so every adult that attends brings a gift for all the kids at the party...

I know it sounds weird that we the adult do not get the gift..but like I said we already have our gift our family....

Happy Birthday Jennifer. I too enjoyed my 30's, but actually, I think they keep getting better and better.

I no longer think of my Birthday as a day to celebrate, but I enjoy celebrating Life in my Birthday "window". If a toddler gets a day to celebrate and someone that turns 100 gets a year to celebrate, it certainly seems as we get older we need more time to celebrate, thus I like to recognize birthday "windows". Plus, no one is ever late at recognizing a birthday!

On my 50th I invited my quilty friends to a party where we made quilts to raise funds for Susan G. Komen For The Cure. I set a personal goal of raising $50k and I'm pleased to say I surpassed it. It was a fun way to celebrate turning 50.

May you always have good health and enjoy your birthday "windows".

Happy Birthday!!! Although I love hearing from friends & family on my birthday I prefer to ignore the phone & email and listen to all the well wishes the following day or late on my birthday night. That way I can spend my birthday focusing on the friends and family I have with me on the day. Also, once everyone is asleep I stay up very late by myself to think about the last year and the one to come and play with my presents if I've received any!!! This year it was a design wall for quilting! Never used Aurifil, am dying to try. Thanks for your generosity on your special day!

Dear Jennifer,

Happy Birthday!

I don't mind getting older either. I don't think it matters if you are 34 oder 37 oder 41. It's all about ones spirits and minds - I know 23 year olds that are older than some woman in there 70ies I have met.

I like to bake a good cake and invite some friends over to have a nice "kaffee und kuchen" (coffee and cake) ,as we say in German. Sit at a big table, slip coffee , eat cakes and talk.... (And ignore the chaos the kids who are running around create *g*).

I would love to win, because I could not finish my piecing for the QAL last night because I run out of pink thread. So I took my 4 year old and my baby to drive to JoAnn today to buy a REAL BIG spool of pink thread - and there was NONE! In the hole huge JoAnn not one big spool of pink thread - Holy crab! So I just bought a 100 yard spool.
In revenge , I left the store without a single scrap of fabric. Ha!

Enjoy your day,
Greetings,
Tina

Happy, Happy Birthday to you!

We're pretty low key about birthdays. My husband and I have birthdays that are only a month apart, so we usually pick a day in the middle and get a babysitter so we can go out to dinner by ourselves. We try to pick an interesting restaurant we wouldn't take the kids to. I give him a short list of a few nice things I'd like and make him choose one. Even though I picked it out, it's still more special because he got it for me. We used to buy our own presents, but that really missed the element of giving that makes a present special.

Happiest of Birthday wishes to you.

I love to spend my birthday getting pampered and eating cake!

For many years I have celebrated my birthday by starting the day with a slice of b'day cake for breakfast. Yum. And I take the day off, too, 'cause I can (I'm self-employed). Hope you have a wonderful birthday, and many more.

I have loved spending time with my family for my birthday, but I have to say my best birthday for a while now has been my 40th. Hubby surprised me with tickets to see Mama Mia on Broadway (we live in GA), dinner, and a hotel on Times Square. Very cool!

Thanks for your lovely giveaway - so generous of you. I'd definitely consider it a birthday present if I were to win!

Happy Birthday!
I always have 'birthday breakfast' at my mum's house, where it's a family tradition that everyone gets a 'non-birthday' present - a great way for everyone to enjoy my birthday!! :) She started this when my sister and I were young so we wouldn't get too jealous. They are only little gifts but it's so much fun!
Thanks xx

My husband & I were born on the same day, same month, same year, in the same hospital so we share birthdays. How else could I enjoy celebrating my birthday than celebrating his birthday with him so we choose a restaurant we both like & have a lovely dinner together & just enjoy each other's company. It's been 37 years of celebrating our birthdays together & each year just gets better. Happy Birthday to you & I hope you're birthday is as enjoyable as our's always is. (bwgarner@pclnet.net)

Happy Day of Your Birth!
I'm not so big on attention, so I like a pretty quiet birthday. A simple dinner with close family and maybe an outing of my choosing. I'm thinking the LACMA for my upcoming birthday.

Happy Birthday Jennifer! To celebrate my birthday, I like to go out for dinner with my husband and son. Mexican food is my favorite, so chips, salsa, enchiladas, margaritas and flan are all on the menu!

Courtney said...

Happy Birthday, Jennifer! My favorite thing about birthdays is just feeling special all day. Sounds silly, but when you're an adult, it kind of seems like a secret. I mean , you can't act like a child & announce it to everyone! So, you go about your day & all through the random interactions with strangers you're thinking "it's my birthday today! And tonight I am going to eat cake after the kids sing to me!"

Shelley said...

Happy Birthday! I kind of get a thrill if my birthday slips by unnoticed ... my husband being the exception - he BETTER remember!

Happy Birthday! Enjoy!! Just a simple day enjoying my fiber obsessions is my preferred way to spend a birthday! Going out to dinner isn't a bad thing either :)

I like to go to a place like "Color Me Mine" or the Painted Plate" and make a painted pottery piece. My 2 little girls and even my husband get to paint their own pieces so it is a lot of fun for everyone!!

Happy birthday!

In my family, we celebrate birthdays a little different than everyone else. For as long as I can remember, birthdays are celebrated all week long. Since my birthday is on the last day of January, we start a week earlier and start celebrating until the day of my birthday. It's a lot of fun! Earlier this January we had a entire box of vegan chocolate cupcakes to ourselves. It's a wonderful tradition that we all love to celebrate.

Happy Birthday! I have to say that I like your attitude, and I feel the same way about birthdays! Congrats on your survival of the Big B . . . I just got diagnosed last week, and met my doctors today. :)

For many years my sister and I (we're twins)went to the county fair every year. Now we've married and move to different parts of the state and I treat myself to a night at the casino.

My grandpa's birthday is two days after mine, so until we moved to IL 3 years ago, we'd have a family birthday party together every year. He always jokes that I'm older than him because my birthday is first. :)

Now I'm content to spend the evening at home with my husband... so long as there's cake. :)

Happy Birthday! You look so young, must be that happy glow. As for birthday celebrations, low key is good for me. Time with family is all I need -- well, besides sewing time.

Happy Birthday Jennifer! I agree 30s are the best. I've only been in them a couple of years but I feel like I can now do what I enjoy and not what everyone wants for me. My last b'day, I was given a LOT of money, put in by my dear friends and husband. It was special because Tim's been looking for work for a few months so we've had to be extra careful with money. So I got to sit with my laptop and a coffee, in my PJs, and buy a whole lot of fabric I'd had my eye on for a while! My mum recovered from breast cancer this year. It's a very anchoring experience, isn't it? xx
