Those are favicons and they help you easily identify your favorite blogs in your list of bookmarks.
Those cute little flowers and symbols make your url address stand out.
Want to learn how to make one?
It's quick and EASY!
1. Go to Picnik (a free photo editing site.)
2. To create your favicon, choose a picture you would like to use. A quilt block works great. Anything that is a simple, clear graphic, with sharp lines will work well.
5. Upload the picture to Picnik. Click on the Edit tab.

7. Click on Resize and crop your photo if needed to be a perfect square. Click OK. Then resize again and change to 16 x 16. Click OK.

8. Click on the Save & Share tab. Name your favicon and save this to your computer.

9. Go to Blogger Dashboard and click on Design. Then click on Favicon (above Navibar.)

10. Upload your favicon from your computer and save.

11. To see what it looks like, go to View Blog and wha-la! Your favicon should appear in the address bar at the top of the page.

Cool huh?
If you try this, let me know how it goes!

Sadly the iPad doesn't show the icons, but I'm going to make one for pc viewers, thank you
thanks Jennifer, you just helped me remember I wanted to change mine. I'm going to have a button pretty soon, too.
How funny. I just noticed yours yesterday and was planning to e-mail you about it today. Gonna make one now. Thanks!!! :)
I made one, but it doesn't show in my browser - neither does yours. OH WELL. Kinda fun to make tho - I had never been on Picnik.
I've done it, only to find I have the same problem as Debbie above. I can't see my favicon or yours. :-(
I stumbled over the favicon feature a week or so ago - when adding more useless html buttons for giveaways I was never destined to win!
Thank you!...my pics didn't work because too big...now I know how to do!
nichi
Unfortunately they don't show up in Google Chrome, but they do in Firefox and, presumably, IE.
I've done mine anyway. Thanks for the idea.
PS -like the new hair cut!
I have firefox 5 and they don't show up - bummer. Good tutorial though!
I had no idea Blogger had made it so easy! Thanks.
I did it, so easy, thanks! I had found a tutorial for this a while ago, but it was too complicated. I love yours (:
Thanks for the tute! As I am now using Chrome, don't know whether I will bother- or maybe Chrome will catch up to make them viewable! Worth trying out for other web browsers I guess! Thanks!
I did it, but I read some of the other comments that they don't show up in Chrome or Firefox...boo! Well, can you see mine? Does it look dumb? lol
i tried and it says it saved it to my computer... but i don't see it. does it show up for you?
I was just going to comment the other day that I liked yours! I'm not sure why but I always like it when blogs have those. After looking at your last picture, I think your Starflower block might make a cute one. I use Firefox 5 and it shows up just fine for me. Anyway, thanks for this tutorial. I broke down and started a blog this week so I had fun trying this out last night!
It worked!! At least in Safari!!! Thank you!
ooooohhh im going to give it a go!! xx
Sorry to hear that it doesn't show up in some browsers. I have Safari and can see most of yours there.
Thanks for the tute on this. Unfortunately, mine doesn't show up on my blog although it is there on my design board. Too sad! Then again, I'm a very new blogger so it could just be me!!
so cool & easy! I always wondered about those. I just tried it. Can't see mine, but I can see yours on my Macbook. Thanks so much!
