Ta-da! My first solids quilt.
Rainbow Cabins
I must say that I love it. The gray sashing makes the colors pop and the pieced border frames the wonky log cabins just right.
When I started this quilt, I had no set pattern in mind. I loved the Bella Solids from Rachel but wanted a wider range of colors so I added some Kona solids as well.
I had planned on making a larger quilt but after making 4 blocks, I liked it so much I wanted to get it finished. So I sashed it and pieced a border and that was that.
Don't you love the back? I think it would be a great quilt on its own.
Not having a plan was liberating. You should give it a try.
This one is going to my sweet boy. It's going to be a fun quilt for him to play on.
Want to make one too? You can find the Wonky Log Cabin Tutorial here.

This turned out fabulous. When you first mentioned the gray, I couldn't picture it. Now I know how great it is!!
The back would make a great quilt. I love the way the quilting looks on the back.
You have inspired me again...I must try a solid quilt. Maybe I will have a good start with the leftovers from my living room quilt and camping quilt.
I LOVE IT!! You did a great job! I ADORE gray (grey, depending on the day) and have a ton of it in my quilts. Again, fantastic and enjoy that puppy!!
rainbow cabins. . I would have never thought of it.
This is fantastic Jennifer! I love log cabins in solids.....and have done a few. I have been quilting for a very long time and used to use a lot of solids in my quilting, but I think the fabric choices were not as appealing then. It was either Homespun, Batik, or Calico's. Not that there is anything wrong with any of those...we just have so many fabulous fabrics now. I love the inner border with the blocks of color! Very sweet!
Beautiful quilt!
This is so gorgeous. I love the piecing, quilting, border, everything.
i love solids and i love log cabins and this is the perfect combination! Beautiful!
I LOVE this. I especially love the quilting. I've never approached a project without a set plan. I think I might hyperventilate if I tried :) I always have a million diagrams drawn... I think it's the engineer in me. But I wish I had it in me to let go and see where a project takes me. Maybe some day. Beautiful quilt!
